Who is Itaca?

Itaca is a townhouse in Polignano a mare, in the South of Italy.
Itaca is a crossroad where different cultures and stories meet.
On the walls you can still admire our local tuff, the stone used to build houses here.
It is on four levels, which means there are four flights of stairs to make.
We all know this: the breathtaking view is always on the top of the mountain.
I believe it is worth the effort. I hope it is the same for you.
Ground floor - Your room
This space used to be a recovery for animals first and a small workshop later.
Today this is the room where “things happen”. You can read a book or sip a glass of wine, while talking about life.
Or do whatever makes your heart sing.
On this floor there is also a bathroom with a large shower.
First Floor - The bedroom
I wander about all the people who went to bed surrendering their hopes and fear to something bigger than themselves.
I felt in love with the bathtub. It makes me think that in the past people bathed themselves in basins, so I can appreciate how lucky I am to live nowadays.
Did you know that only a few decades ago in this house there was a family of ten people?
There is an ensuit bathroom with a shower.
Second Floor - The kitchen
This is the place where love expresses itself at best.
This is something you have to know about Puglia, food is the currency of love and cooking is a pure loving act.
The kitchen is fully equipped and ready in case you decide to cook a traditional Apulian menu, and join me for a cooking class or an orecchiette making lab.
Pour yourself a cup of Italian coffee and enjoy a rich breakfast.
Third Floor - The terrace
To me this is a "gate to heaven". When I got here for the first time I knew I was home, standing the dome of the Cathedral and the infinite line where sea and sky become one.
Hope you enjoy the same feeling, maybe while relaxing in the Jacuzzi after an intense day exploring the secrets this land has to offer.
On this floor there is a bathroom.
